Chemical absorption method is one of the common methods for desulfurization of biogas. In this method, specific alkaline solutions are usually used as absorbents, such as sodium hydroxide solution, sodium carbonate solution, etc. When biogas containing hydrogen sulfide comes into contact with these alkaline solutions, hydrogen sulfide will undergo a chemical reaction with alkaline substances. Taking sodium hydroxide solution as an example, the reaction between hydrogen sulfide and sodium hydroxide produces sodium sulfide and water. Taking iron oxide desulfurizer as an example, when biogas containing hydrogen sulfide passes through a desulfurization tower equipped with iron oxide desulfurizer, hydrogen sulfide reacts chemically with iron oxide to produce iron sulfide and water. As the reaction continues, the desulfurizer will gradually lose its activity and transform into sulfur-containing compounds. For failed desulfurizers, they generally need to be replaced. In the replaced desulfurizer, after appropriate treatment, the iron sulfide can recover its iron and sulfur elements, achieving the recycling and utilization of resources. If the desulfurizer is activated carbon, after adsorbing hydrogen sulfide and undergoing regeneration treatment, it can partially restore its adsorption performance and be put back into use. During the regeneration process of activated carbon, waste gas containing sulfides is generated, which requires secondary treatment to prevent its discharge into the environment and cause pollution.
